The Durham Cycling Story
Founded in 1991 the Durham Cycling Club is a non-profit organization of avid recreational cyclists. Formerly the Touring Concept Cycling Group, the goal of the club is to promote fitness through cycling as well as social camaraderie among the group.
We are based in the Region of Durham, where most of our rides start. The season runs from April 1 to October 31. We ride every Sunday with many Saturday morning, Tuesday evening and Thursday evening rides available. Our club members volunteer to plan and host the rides, leading to a variety of routes on the roads of Durham Region and beyond.
Our rides feature frequent regroups to allow slower riders to catch up. Riders are encouraged to maintain a pace of between 18 to 25 kph. Distances progress from 40-60 km in the spring to longer distances (70-100 km) in the summer, leading up to our premier event of the season, the Century ride. This fully supported club Century, with routes varying from 100 to 160 km, is an exciting challenge for all riders.
The annual fees are low.
Come out and ride with us. You will find we are a friendly and supportive club who are accepting of all levels of serious recreational cyclists.
